# Werkmail vs Brevo

Reviewed August 2026. Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) is a **broad EU marketing suite**: email, SMS, chat, CRM-ish contacts. Werkmail is a **narrow email operator**: isolation, streams, consent, practice kinds.

## At a glance

| | Brevo | Werkmail |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Primary job | Email + SMS + chat + CRM-lite | Email sending, consent, deliverability |
| Company geography | EU company (France) | EU operations (Frankfurt) |
| Isolation | Suite tiers often share pools | One sending tenant per workspace |
| SMS / chat | In product | Out of scope — compose elsewhere |
| Transactional | Available in the suite | `outgoing` with tracking off by default |
| Healthcare semantics | Generic templates | `termin` / `recall` / `doi` + compliance check |
| Automation | Large visual canvas | Linear journeys |

## They win

- **Surface area.** SMS, chat, landing pages, and a large automation canvas in one vendor.
- **Volume price.** Cheap email at marketing scale — attractive if you accept shared-pool trade-offs.
- **EU company (France).** Easier procurement story for some buyers than a US ESP.
- **All-in-one CRM-lite** for shops that want one login for campaigns and conversations.

## Werkmail wins

- **Tenant isolation.** One sending tenant per workspace. Cheap suite tiers often share reputation; one noisy neighbour can hurt you.
- **Transactional purity.** Clinical/transactional mail defaults tracking off and cannot share a marketing stream.
- **Consent as a ledger**, not a checkbox on a form builder. Channel prefs for `termin` / `recall` / `newsletter`.
- **Inbox-risk hard block** and attachment allowlists — reputation guardrails before send.
- **Healthcare semantics.** Presets and checks for typical practice mail; calendar and inbound send hooks, not a generic “SMS + email” blob.

## Honest gaps on our side

- No SMS, no live chat, no huge visual automation builder.
- If you already run Brevo for SMS + newsletters and only need “some transactional,” staying may be rational.
- Their contact/CRM UI is broader; our CRM is contacts, segments, and consent — not a sales suite.

## Stay on Brevo if

You want one vendor for SMS + email marketing, you are comfortable with suite-tier deliverability, and healthcare message kinds are irrelevant.

## Switch to Werkmail if

Email **reputation and consent** are the product risk (practices, EU operators), and you would rather compose SMS elsewhere than share a cheap marketing pool.

## If you migrate

Keep SMS on Brevo or another vendor — Werkmail will not replace it. Move domains that must stay clean onto an isolated Werkmail tenant. Re-collect or import consent evidence; a suite checkbox is not a ledger. Expect a smaller automation canvas.
